Incessant rainfall and flooding force organisers to reschedule the annual fair, now set to take place in December after further consultations.
The Nepal Adventure Expo has been postponed to a later date due to inclement weather conditions, the organisers have announced.
The much-anticipated day-long annual fair was set to begin at 10am today, with more than 50 exhibitors expected to participate.
“Following consultations with the exhibitors, we have decided to call off today’s event due to incessant rains,” said Ajay Narsingh Rana, one of the event’s organisers.
“It was a tough decision,” he admitted. “We had completed all the preparations for the event but ultimately had to recognise that continuing would be too dangerous.
“Weather is the one factor that’s beyond our control when planning an event. It’s always heartbreaking when it forces us to change course,” Rana said, assuring that the event would now be held in December.
“We will announce a suitable date in December after further consultations with the concerned stakeholders.”
The capital, Kathmandu, along with most parts of the country, has been lashed by incessant rainfall for over 36 hours. As a result, several areas have been inundated. This has disrupted the majority of flights in and out of the country’s major airports, as well as vehicular movement along key arterial highways.
The Meteorological Office has issued a warning of continued rain in most parts of the country until Sunday.
